About Me

Award-winning live music photographer. Doctor of Economics. Occasional writer. Full-time fan.

South African.

Dedicated to capturing music events and presenting them in their unadulterated form.

I have been part of the South African music scene for longer than I can remember. Starting with organizing and marketing small events, I eventually progressed to music journalism. My journalism career introduced me to some wonderful people, and is a story in and of itself. Finding myself behind the barrier at most shows, I decided it would be better to spend my time capturing these events, as well as writing about them. Thus, I bought my first camera.

I have been focused on capturing live music events since early 2015. In my tenure as a photographer, I have had the opportunity to capture a wide array of bands, both local and international.

My journey started with a Nikon D7000, before moving to a Nikon D750 in 2016. As of 2019 (just before the pandemic), I switched over to Fujifilm.

My current gear bug-out bag includes:

- Fujifilm X-T4

- Fujifilm X-T3

- Fujifilm XF 16-55mm F/2.8

- Fujifilm XF 50-140mm F/2.8

- Godox V850II Flash (Manual / HSS)

- Godox V860IIF Kit (TTL / HSS) (x2)

I have been privileged to be the official photographer for a number of bands (including but not limited to): Seether (USA), Atreyu (USA), Bowling for Soup (USA), Fokofpolisiekar (RSA), Francois Van Coke (RSA), Van Coke Kartel (RSA), Facing The Gallows (RSA), Tweak (RSA), Spoegwolf (RSA), Vulvodynia (RSA), BCUC (RSA), Angie Oeh (RSA), Jack Parow (RSA), Hallcats (RSA), Deity's Muse (RSA), Made for Broadway,  as well as for many festivals (and other artists).

Notable international acts photographed include: Guns 'n Roses, The Cure, Seether, Myles Kennedy, Incubus, Atreyu, August Burns Red, Tesseract, Monuments, Norma Jean, Protest The Hero, 36 CrazyFists, Fit For A King, Crown The Empire, Our Last Night, Alien Ant Farm, Intervals, Memphis May Fire, Eskimo Callboy (Electric Callboy), Mantar, DevilDriver, Kanivool, I See Stars, Attila, American Authors, Alestorm, Clean Bandit, Modest Mouse, Yelawolf, Kongos, Secrets; among many others.

The list of South African bands I have photographed is a list longer than my arm - but if you have stumbled across my work in the wild, it is most likely of Fokofpolisiekar,  Francois Van Coke, or Facing The Gallows.

If you would like me to photograph your show (or something else) feel free to get in touch using the contact form, or any of my social links below.
